Themes such as these, inspired by times of personal struggle and conflict, contribute toward the exploration of artworks as ‘imagined safe spaces’, before leaving university, and pursuing independent artistry.

On 5th of September 2018, the first official ‘imagined safe space’ was self-published in book art form as an anthology titled 'Desolation and Wonder'. Though the First Editions of this book are sold out, it is up for special Second Edition print coming out at the beginning of 2021. This 174 page project is the first to larger series collectively grouped under Tristan Night’s World of Witchtown™.

Now, the second series, “Songs Sung by Scarred Souls”, aims to deliver an abstracted illustration response to emotional struggle, and is due to be released before the end of 2020. A free view of Volume 1, exists on three popular web-series platforms, so as to digitally interact with the audience inside the darker and vast expanses of the internet. Essential, under the historic global lockdown, when so many humans became even more reliant than ever on technology to cope. I myself found it an incredibly vital aspect of making it through such a stressful and concerning time with offers of inspirations and motivation found among the online spaces, other lonely humans virtually travelled through. A different kind of connection, and interaction became apparent to express about and incorporate as a tether to dreams of the future

Now, and inspired by the colours and tones of synths, old and new, an audio outlet of expression developed inside of September 2020. Project, “S.A.D Record”, became the new face of where Night’s World of Witchtown™ explores an emotive interaction that is perhaps the most celebrated act of separation in mankind, especially at present. Listening to music. This new concept slides off of the intention to draw on everything, and essentially ‘draws with music’ while giving original storytelling and poetry and space to interact with the growing audience of this fiction world. The necessity of this outlet is like a strong foundation to the pillars of Art of Tristan Night™. It is more than a means of modern communication, or personalised instrumental tracks that people can listen to on their favourite listening platform with. It serves to inspire, to the spaces that could otherwise never be reached, and to the people who I may never meet, but be able to help motivate them through whatever it is they are going through.

The intention is to maintain creative progress, and inspire more creatives to collaborate under the concept as a means of reaching out to others struggling with their mental health in this rapidly changing age that doesn’t seem to slow down anymore. Connect visual art, and film with it soon, to create even deeper experiences through other means of exhibition and entertainment. Hopefully, remind whoever listens to love and accept more. We will reach them, through Fine Art, through music, through comic books, fashion, or dramatic and experimental film.

Creating artwear developed only recently as some of the fashion designs previously sketched became more doable by self rather than outsource. It has been very enjoyable to turn some of the clothing I would usually only sketch on characters, into real custom wearable pieces of art for myself and others. Drawing on leather jackets for people who want it has been just as fun as making unisex collars, chockers, cuffs, and bracelets out of recycled leather.

2019 was the year that my work with fashion found a pop-up experiment named “Raven Artwear Collective” that was led by Jacob Macfarlane, who gave me vintage leather jackets to draw on and exhibit at two galleries in Cape Town, South Africa. Few of those works left, may still be circulating if you’d enjoy hunting for them. Otherwise, I can promise to draw on what jacket’s I find or make to create more artwear with. This is only another beginning, so please join me.
