Good day guys. My name is Allan Horton and I am a professional ocean photographer.
My photography all started out when I was about 16 years old and was bodyboarding a sick little reef which I still love to surf and shoot.I started off with a Pentax W90 point and shoot camera but the quality was not the best so I decided that I would have to get a proper set-up in order to get better shots. I then invested in an SPL housing with a fisheye and was addicted since day 1.
If you are going to be afraid of getting pumped you are never going to get the best photos so you have to take chances and just hope it pays off. You have to remember to always respect the ocean and never turn your back on it.
My next steps will be to travel to locations like the Canary Islands, Tahiti, Australia and Indonesia as it has been a dream of mine ever since I can remember and I am going to make it a reality.
The best thing about being an Ocean Photographer is the awesome connections you make with people after getting the best picture of your life and they ask braaa please tell me you got that and the both of you froth out so hard and are instantly stoked is what makes me so happy.
Being able to capture heavy waves has always sparked the fire inside me and that fire will never stop burning as I am always on the search for heavier waves. I LIVE FOR THIS and the sick thing about ocean photography is that there is always something you can do differently to get a better view and stunning end results. See you in the line-up.
